When setting up offline conversions in LeadJourney, you’ll be asked to choose a conversion mode.

This determines how LeadJourney handles multiple conversion events with the same Click ID — which often happens when leads interact with your business more than once or when your CRM sends updates repeatedly.

Selecting the correct mode ensures your data stays accurate, clean, and meaningful — both in LeadJourney and in your connected ad platforms.

⚙️ The 4 Conversion Modes Explained

Mode

What It Does

Create New Conversion

Logs a new conversion entry for every POST request

Edit Conversion with New Data

Updates the previous entry with new data for the same Click ID

Ignore Duplicate Postbacks

Ignores any further requests for that conversion if the Click ID already triggered it

Keep Original Data, Increment Payout

Keeps the original record and adds value to it (ideal for revenue/payout tracking)

🧪 Practical Use Cases for Each Mode

Let’s explore when and why to use each mode.

✅ 1. Create New Conversion

Best for: Tracking every interaction — especially when a lead can convert multiple times.

Examples:

  • Lead: A user may download multiple freebies or submit interest multiple times before becoming a customer.

  • SalesCallScheduled: Leads may book several calls over time.

  • FormSubmitted: Each form interaction is meaningful.

What happens: Every POST from the CRM creates a new conversion record, even if the same Click ID is used.

✅ 2. Edit Conversion with New Data

Best for: Status-based conversions, where only the most recent state matters.

Examples:

  • QualifiedLead: If a lead’s qualification level changes over time.

  • SalesCallCompleted: To update call outcome or new context.

  • LeadScoreUpdated: Reflect updated scoring logic from your CRM.

What happens: LeadJourney updates the existing conversion for that Click ID with the latest data.

✅ 3. Ignore Duplicate Postbacks

Best for: One-time conversions that should never be repeated, even if sent multiple times by mistake.

Examples:

  • FakeLead: A lead can only be marked fake once. Accepting duplicates would skew reporting and misrepresent the number of low-quality leads.

  • ContractSigned: A contract is signed once — further entries don’t add value.

What happens: Only the first conversion for a given Click ID is stored. All duplicates are ignored.

💡 This mode is especially useful for protecting data integrity when your CRM might resend the same conversion multiple times.

✅ 4. Keep Original Data, Increment Payout

Best for: Use cases where revenue or payouts grow over time, but attribution should stay linked to the first conversion.

Examples:

  • WonClient: The lead becomes a client once, but may generate multiple purchases (e.g. €1,000 + €2,000).

  • RecurringRevenue: Track monthly billing for the same lead.

  • AffiliateSale: Each new order increases the payout, but is tied to one original referral.

What happens: The original conversion is kept, but LeadJourney adds to the total amount/value without creating a new record.
